World Book Day

We celebrated World Book Day and our love of reading during the national lockdown. We had a Zoom reading breakfast where we dressed as book characters and read our books while enjoying a yummy breakfast.

We have been recapping what we learnt about the human body in September. We had a home learning challenge - to use household objects to make a body and then label the parts. Here are our amazing bodies!

Surviving on a desert island

In science we are learning about the four things we need to survive - air, water, food and shelter. Zayanah made this amazing video describing how she would survive on a desert island - she knows all the things she will need to survive!

Homes in the past

As part of our history learning we have been looking at objects from houses in the past. We learnt that there were not inside bathrooms and toilets in many homes 120 years ago, and people had to wash using a jug and basin their bedroom, and wee in a chamber pot!

Minibeasts catch up!

Year 1 children learnt about minibeasts in Reception during lockdown, when we were at home and many of us didn't have access to a garden, and we didn't get to see or handle many real life minibeasts, so we had a catch up session and investigated real snails! We held them, watched how they move, and talked about what they eat. We even had a snail race - they were very slow!
